Ion plating is a surface treatment process through a physical vapor deposition (PVD) of the ionized metal to the workpiece.
While conventional electroplating is done by dipping a workpiece to electrolytic solution and making a film of other metal to coat on the surface of the workpiece, ion plating evaporates metal by plasma and the evaporated metal reacts and compound with peripheral reactive gas to make evaporation coating of the metal on workpiece. Compare to the conventional electroplating, coating adhesion and surface durability has been improved in ion plating.
